New Air Cargo possibilities
To comply with the demand for reliable and regular air cargo possibilities between the ABC Islands, Fast Delivery Services now introduces its own air carrier for cargo services named: Inter Island Express. For this purpose, it was necessary to achieve the so-called ‘Aircraft Operators’ Certificate’ (AOC). The process of attaining this certificate was very challenging.Gigi explains that this is the first time in the ABC Islands’ history that a company has succeeded in accomplishing this endeavor in obtaining a cargo AOC.
Attaining this certificate was mandatory to be able to operate its own commercial air cargo aircraft. The company starts with a cargo plane’s daily flights with a maximum capacity of 1.000 kilos between Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. This will surely enhance commerce between the Islands.
Cargo Air Operator Certificate AOC
Any individual, organization or company that wishes to operate an aircraft for commercial air transport must, by law, obtain an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority. The AOC allows the operator to charge to fly cargo on its aircraft. Thus, an AOC is granted from a national aviation authority to an aircraft operator to use aircraft for commercial purposes. This requires the operator to have personnel, assets, and systems to ensure the safety of its employees and the general public. This document will detail the aircraft types used, for what purpose, and in what geographic region.
