Tasks: Recordkeeping and/or administration for control of all Bopec’s inspection and test records performed on equipment for emergency preparedness and response. Conducing firefighting and rescue operation in teamwork under command of a superior fire fighter, applying all necessary safety procedures in an effective way. Assist in firefighting to combat fire on tanks, jetties, sumps, buildings etc. Assist in Fire Fighting on tugboats to combat ships on fire and assist on board of ships on fire, after receiving command. Responds to miscellaneous emergencies, including rescues, hazardous materials and oil spills. Execute – on instruction – visual inspections, checks, maintenance, cleaning and testing tasks, etc.
Skills and knowledge: Has a technical associate’s degree (MTS). The position of Fire Fighter also requires the following competence:Good team player with a fraternal attitude towards exemplary mutual collaboration for a common goal, a cheerful personality with an inspiring attitude and verbal communication. Ability to understand, speaks, read and write in the English, Spanish, Papiamentu and Dutch language. A minimum of three years’ experience in a fire department or in firefighting activities. Government driving license B, C, D and E.Swimming certificates A & B. Good physical health so as to enable fast reaction and mobilization in emergency situations (Medical report required). Gas tester Certification by the local authorities. First Aid Certification by Red Cross. Microsoft Office certification (as minimum Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Minimum training exposure required: Fire fighting, minor maintenance, rescue training, Emergency Medical Care, Safety Procedures and NFPA requirements on periodic inspection, testing or maintenance interventions.
